Week 5… I think?

Lots of experimenting with new materials here, also some scribble faces and quickly drawn “step-above-a-scribble” face LOL. Starting to learn what supplies I like working with the best and others I need to practice more with. Also finding out just how important paper is for different mediums! For example, 100 lb presentation card stock is AMAZING for markers! Toned paper and craft paper is perfect for black and white china markers. Flat canvas and old vinyl album covers are great for collage mixed media. I really love working on watercolor paper however NOT when using markers like copic as it sucks up all the ink.

Having Fun

There is so much fun in learning. Often things do not come out the way I see in my head or anything like what is being taught in class… instead of throwing it away, I just play some more. Experiment with color, texture, how supplies interact with each other. Super fun, best way to learn is to play like a five year old! So even if I wind up with a silly looking project, I now embrace it and share it. I learned something. I had fun. That’s what it’s all about!

#FunFabFaces

My most recent discovery is Karen Campbell of Awesome Art School. I am having so much fun with her current #FunFabFaces challenge. She puts out a video every Friday on YouTube Our goal is to draw 100 faces in 100 days (or even one a week, whatever you want!) This is also a very supportive and educational group.

I have been combining my 100 Faces Challenge with my Jane Davenport Supplies me class… they go very well together 🙂
